Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
